UVEF Top 25 Under 5 Call For Nominations

UVEF is currently accepting nominations for our Top 25 Under 5 Awards. All Utah companies started after January 1, 2009 are eligible regardless of revenue. Top 25 Under 5 Awards Ceremony: July 10, Noon to 1:30 p.m. Location to be announced. Nominate Your Company Now! This year, our Top 25 Under Five will spotlight two types of startup, with awards being presented to companies in revenue, and pre-revenue startups. Our new emphasis will highlight Utah’s outstanding entrepreneur community with recognition for new ideas as well as companies who are proving a sustainable model with incoming revenue. Award recipients in two categories will be recognized at our Award Ceremony Luncheon on July 11th. UVEF’s Top 25 Under Five Awards have recognized the development of more than 200 individuals and companies, including Utah success stories like ZAGG, Agel Enterprises, Allegiance, Interbank FX, Seastone, Altiris, and Omniture, among many others. Applicants this year will be judged on several factors including revenue and job creation for companies in revenue, and sustainability and scalability for pre-revenue companies. All Utah companies are welcomed for nomination. This year a nomination of $25 will apply, and all companies who are nominated will be featured on our UVEF website in addition to special recognition for 25 top companies in each of our two categories. UVEF Tech Team Up Event

UVEF Sponsoring: Beehive Startups TechTeamUp Thursday, May 8, 6:30 – 8:00 PM, UVU SB 134. No cost to attend. REGISTER HERE Scheduled for the opening night of the OpenWest Conference, an annual event drawing 1,000 technologists from across the country, Beehive Startups TechTeamUp will launch. This event will provide budding entrepreneurs with the opportunity to pitch their startup with the hope of procuring a technical co-founder. The winner of the event will receive a cash prize of $1,000, courtesy of Grow Utah and BoomStartup, and $1,000 worth of development and technical consulting, courtesy of Izeni. Second place winner will receive $500, courtesy of Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum, along with a complimentary annual UVEF membership valued at $198. Presenters will have five minutes to pitch their startup, explain the technical challenges that lie ahead, and reveal what they’re looking for in a technical co-founder. A panel consisting of Hirevue Founder and CEO Mark Newman; BoomStartup Co-founder Robb Kunz; Steve Grizzell, Angel investor; and Izeni Co-founder and CTO, Gabriel Gunderson will take five minutes to ask questions, offer feedback, and give advice. At the end of the event, audience members and panelists vote to determine the winner of TechTeamUp. Once the event comes to a close, attendees will have the opportunity to network with presenters at an after party sponsored by Grow Utah, BoomStartup, UVEF, and Izeni.
